Our team has literally decades of experience in dealing with international firms in Japan.
Originally from London, Tim has lived in Japan for thirty-two years. His resume includes being a qualified accountant (FCMA) with degrees in business studies and business systems analysis and design. His business experience is wide, with senior positions in multinational corporations, including companies in the pharmaceutical, securities, banking, clothing and direct marketing businesses.
He changed direction in 2000 to become an entrepreneur, starting his own business process outsourcing firm, IN CONTROL. This was a whole new world. In big companies people get used to picking up the phone to ask someone to do something for you. In a small company, you do it yourself! In a big company, your pay hits your bank account every month on time. In a small company, if you don't do the business, you don't get paid. IN CONTROL was very successful, and the company attracted outside interest. IN CONTROL was acquired by TMF Group in 2007, and Tim stepped down as Managing Director at the end of June 2009.
While remaining Senior Advisor to TMF, he established PlatformOne in 2009 to provide support and advice to help businesses grow. During 2010, he launched ChangeManagementJapan to help businesses and executives cope with change in their lives.
He is also a Professor at the Kenichi Ohmae Graduate School of Business’ MBA in Globalization.
In addition to his business activities, over his 30 years in Japan Tim has been active in the foreign community in Japan. He was a Board Member of both the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan and Yokohama International School.
Tim works with a number of senior business colleagues with a broad range of business skills to ensure that clients receive the right advice for the issues they are facing.
